Independent presidential candidate Evan Mc Mullin speaks during

Ironically, McMullin has more political experience than Trump, who's never worked in government and never run in any election.

This election has proved excruciating for Mormons, who have deep animosity toward Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, both of whom are perceived as not living up to their moral standards.

McMullin recognizes he is a "longshot candidate" and never meant to run for president.

With most of the attention in the presidential contest understandably focused on the major party candidacies of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, and to a lesser extent on the minor party efforts of Gary Johnson, the Libertarian, and Green Party hopeful Jill Stein, the independent campaign of Utah resident Evan McMullin (shown) is moving under the national radar.

McMullin is a 40-year-old independent conservative candidate from Utah.

Trump went on to say that if McMullin does win Utah, this could have a "devastating effect" on the election by blocking the Republican's chances of winning. I hope Hannity and his #NeverTrump counterparts realize that the defendants can, and maybe will, get up and leave this particular courtroom at any time. That also probably explains Jason Chaffetz's freakish flip-flop-flip on Trump, in which he endorsed him, then un-endorsed him after the "Access Hollywood" tape, then tweeted last night that he'll be voting for Trump even though he doesn't endorse him. I'm now working on the campaign of one of our Republican candidates for Minnesota House. While the former Central Intelligence Agency operative and former chief policy director for the House Republicans Conference was driven to hit the campaign trail as a "Never Trump" independent candidate, he's aiming to be a conservative challenge to both Clinton and Trump. The same thing could be said of Trump, of course.

Mormon observers say it's easy to identify McMullin, a clean-cut conservative who always wears a white shirt and tie, as an LDS member because of the idioms he invokes in speeches. He is polling in the high 20's or low 30's, approximately even with Trump and with Democrat Hillary Clinton. We have limited resources so we have to choose very wisely about where we spend them and our time.

Richards said he's considered the logic that a vote for a third-party candidate is a vote thrown away, but he says that argument perpetuates a system where choice is limited. "You know what? He is what he is, and I begrudge no one for entering the race", he said.

In the house, each state's coalition of representatives receives one collective vote, so there will be 50 votes cast with 26 required to win. He's a Mormon and spent two years serving as a missionary in South America before graduating from college and joining the Central Intelligence Agency. He has allowed Evan McMullin to raise funds with his email list and refused to endorse Trump. Absent a miracle, Clinton will win Minnesota, and nothing you can do with your vote will change that.
