Why Adam Levine Named His Daughter Dusty Rose

Adam Levine and model Behati Prinsloo have Ellen DeGeneres to thank for naming their baby girl. The couple welcomed their first child in September.

"So, you basically named my kid", Adam said. DeGeneres isn't a jerk, though, so she didn't shoot down Levine's initial pick without offering some suggestions of her own - one of which was "Dusty Rose".

"We had a name that we won't mention on television..." "And I think I had a great name, and I texted Ellen and I was like, 'What do you think?' And she's like, 'I hate it". It's a very hard, arduous [game]. "Imagine you're writing the best song you've ever written in your life and you have to name it - it's really screwed up to have to actually have to put yourself through that". In turn, she offered the Maroon 5 rocker a series of other names to pick from - and Dusty was one of those names. "I think it's a awful name.' And I was like, 'Cool, all right!" "So, you basically named my kid".

The singer admits his wife, Victoria's Secret Angel Behati Prinsloo, wasn't on board at first, but that she eventually came around. "I'm like 'Dusty's pretty cool!' She's like, 'I love it!'"

And that's how Dusty Rose was born (well, figuratively speaking).
