Microsoft Releases Xbox One Preview Program Publically

It's expected that the program will be made available to all in time for the holiday season, helping boost Xbox Live services.

Microsoft has announced the Xbox Insider Programme, which will offer everyone the benefits of the old Xbox Preview Programme bar system update previews.

"Our final change, my personal favorite, is that the Xbox Insider Program will soon be open to all Xbox users", Hanson said. In return, members get access to early builds of new software updates, before the general public.

The dashboard for the feature is also being reworked. Don't be anxious, neither Sony nor Microsoft will not release new consoles in the coming years, not until PS5 and Xbox whatever-it-will-be-called become ready, probably somewhere around 2020. Everyone else should see the change occur sometime in the next few weeks.

As it stands, Xbox One system update previews will be limited to those already testing them due to an overwhelming number of volunteers.

Through its existing Insider programs, Microsoft has actively sought out the help of the "technically-able" to install and play with preview versions.

Essentially, the Xbox Insider, aside from going public, is an updated version of the Preview program. That feeling can end, however, with the news that the Xbox Preview Programme is being scrapped in favour of the Xbox Insider Programme, modelled after Microsoft's successful Windows Insider Programme.

Yesterday, Microsoft added the Xbox to its set of Insider programs. Dropping down to the 1TB Gears of War 4 console will get you a price of $329.99 plus a free copy of last week's release Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare - that's $20 off the console along with a free $60 value game. But this change means more people will be able to try games, apps, upgrades, and new features, and give feedback directly from their Xbox One.

iOS users will find their update just includes bug fixes and although it doesn't sound particularly exciting, it's aimed at hardcore users so they can identify any problems with the patches - a task that will take a lot of use, no doubt.

Testers will have to agree to the Skype Insider Program Terms when they sign-up, which then allows them to install the Skype Insiders app.
