Steve Bannon: 'I'm Not a White Nationalist'

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attends the weekly cabinet meeting in Jerusalem

Bannon engineered the final months of Donald Trump's winning campaign for president.

He asserted that Breitbart represents more than just the alt-right.

The controversy surrounding his appointment has been so great that Bannon has even been featured on an episode of South Park. If anything, he finds the negative attention motivating.

He added that while "there are many areas of disagreement between us", the two were in agreement that "Israel, as the Middle East's only democracy, must always have the strongest global support". The Southern Policy Law Center, a leading civil rights group, has also called out Bannon for actively courting white nationalists. "We provide an outlet for 10 or 12 or 15 lines of thought", Bannon said. Bannon has called Breitbart a "platform for the alt-right", a loose movement of the far right whose followers traffic variously in white nationalism, anti-immigration sentiment, anti-Semitism and a disdain for "political correctness". "I'm an economic nationalist", Bannon said.

"Darkness is good", he said. Darth Vader (a fictional character in the "Star Wars" universe). "They outspent us ten to one, had ten times more people and had all the media with them, but I kept saying it doesn't matter, they got it all wrong, we've got this locked".

Like Trump, Bannon has criticized establishment politicians and the GOP. Steve Scalise (La.), Steve King (Iowa) and Kevin McCarthy (Calif.).

Wolff has realized that the liberal media don't get it, and unless they decide to make a conscious effort to explore people and things outside of their reality, they never will.

The appointment of Steve Bannon as Trump's chief strategist has sparked rage and protests this week.

His current role with Breitbart: Bannon told the Journal that he has had "nothing to do with the site since August 15", when he joined the campaign. He is a guy who wants to tear this system down and replace it with a new system.

Bannon is Executive Chairman of Breitbart News.

But The Hollywood Reporter managed to score one, and it dropped this afternoon. "He cares not what anyone in the swamp thinks of him".

Trump's vow to "drain the swamp" of Washington also met with satire.

In talking about the media Bannon says of Fox News, "They got it more wrong than anybody".

To Bannon's point, NBC News political reporter Benjy Sarlin wrote a scathing article about him after his White House position was announced.

They hung a picture of a honey badger on the door.
