Starbucks hue- and flavor-shifting beverage won't last long

NEW YORK (AP) - Starbucks is calling a limited-time beverage that changes colors and flavors with a stir of the straw a "Unicorn Frappuccino".

The drink is a crème Frappuccino containing mango syrup, layered with sour blue drizzle and topped with whipped cream and pink and sour blue powders, according to the release. It changes colors from purple to pink when you stir in "swirls of blue". Both tart and fruity, the drink reminds me of a mix of popsicles and sour skittles. There's only a couple more days left to try the sugary fairytale drink, so make your dreams come true by fulfilling your craving for a sugar fix.

Also, in case you wondered, when Starbucks talks about using crème, the company is referring to a fancy dairy base that resembles cream.

If you're looking to hop up on sugar in the morning before crashing and taking a nap on your desk while dreaming of unicorns, then sure, go for it. The Unicorn Frappuccino changes color and flavor as you drink it.

Now, I'm not terribly familiar with Starbucks or with Unicorns for that matter but I had access to this unique beverage and took my chance with the rare drink. The special drink is only available in the US, Canada and Mexico from Wednesday through Sunday. BOOM. Sour Blue Drizzle sneaks its way to your tastes buds to even out the sweet.

I was curious whether there really is a widespread "internet craze" concerning edible unicorns, so I asked Amanda Brennan, a wonderful person who has an actual library science degree in memes, about the trend.

"It's too early for this", I think to myself.

And Twitter user "Mair" wrote: "Gutted that the Starbucks unicorn frappucino is a United States only thing, they look so cool:ccccc".
