Moto tablet with productivity mode rumored to be in the works

One of the biggest selling points of the Moto Z Play has been its battery life, so it's kind of odd to hear that Motorola may be substantially slimming down the battery included with the Moto Z2 Play. We now know that reducing the thickness will lead to a significant reduction in battery capacity, a fact that we found out from the filtration of the characteristics of Moto Z2 Play.

The report suggests that Motorola will pack in a 3000mAh battery underneath Moto Z2 Play which will be capable enough to provide 30 hours of usage time.

Arguably the best feature on the classic Moto Z Play was its 3510mAh battery that kept your device going and going - for about 50 hours of expected battery life.

We'll have to wait until an official announcement to make sure these specs pan out, but if accurate the Moto Z2 Play is looking like a mix of compromises and improvements over the original. The Moto Z2 Play will come powered by a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 626 octa-core processor. The biggest problem with tablets is that they are mostly just larger version of our phones, and an experience tailored for the big screen could propel interest again. On the other hand, the main camera of the Moto Z2 Play will feature a 12 megapixel sensor and optics whose aperture has an f / 1.7 value. The original Z Play has a 16MP, f/2.0 ratio.

Nearly all of the Z2 Play's internals are set to see upgrades, albeit somewhat modest ones.

The display will be a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED, unchanged from the 2016 model, ensuring the Moto Z2 Play remains compatible with the existing Moto Mods add-ons. The front camera sets the maximum resolution of the sensor to 5 megapixels. We were seriously impressed with the battery life of last year's Moto Z Play, so we're obviously not happy to find out that the Z2 Play might not be particularly awesome in this regard. These devices should be released throughout the rest of the year.
