Portugal goal against Mexico annulled after video review

The 2017 Confederations Cup will have already seen one match played entering Sunday, June 18.

After the report, worldwide media filled Portugal's training session in Kazan, where Ronaldo trained normally with the rest of the squad.

Portugal is making its first appearance in the Confederations Cup, the eight-nation competition played by continental champions plus host Russian Federation and World Cup victor Germany.

The match should serve as an exciting start to what everyone hopes to be a competitive Confederations Cup.

Cristiano Ronaldo, coming off a tumultuous week off the field, had set up Ricardo Quaresma's opening goal for Portugal, and Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez hit Mexico's equalizer just before halftime.

It will be European champion Portugal, with Cristiano Ronaldo in top form, taking on Gold Cup victor Mexico in a game that is likely to decide the group victor.

Andre Silva, the 21-year-old forward who is about to make his debut in a major tournament with Portugal, has been successfully teaming up with Ronaldo to give the European champions an impressive attacking force entering the Confederations Cup. Cristiano Ronaldo aims to lead his team to another piece of silverware despite plenty of outside pressure and rumours surrounding his future.

Ronaldo practiced normally with the rest of the team in the final training session before Sunday's game, smiling and joking with his teammates.

"We know we didn't play well", he said. "He is 100 percent focused on this competition and he will be helping us".

Ronaldo will be playing his first match since being accused of defrauding Spain's tax office of 14.7 million euros ($16.5 million) in unpaid taxes.

The Portuguese sports daily A Bola published a front-page story Friday saying that Ronaldo was upset with the accusations made against him and that his decision to leave Madrid was "irreversible".

The injury report shows no players likely to miss Portugal's opener, which means plenty of selection headaches for head coach Fernando Santos. "We faced the European champions, a team that plays at a very high level, and we played equal to them. All these issues will not affect us".

The Confederations Cup is the main warm-up event for the 2018 World Cup.

Ronaldo's staff did not immediately respond to messages asking for a comment.

He has helped Madrid win three Champions League titles.
