Shooting At San Francisco UPS Leave 4 Dead, Including Shooter

TWITTEREmergency services rushed to the UPS depot

Multiple people are dead after a gunman opened fire Wednesday morning at a UPS warehouse in San Francisco, according to KPIX-TV. Two other drivers who were wounded had been released from the hospital, he added.

Emergency vehicles are parked and police gather outside a UPS package delivery warehouse where a shooting took place Wednesday, June 14, 2017, in San Francisco.

When police arrived, they encountered numerous victims and evacuated them, Chaplin said.

UPS spokesman Steve Gaut released a statement saying that six employees were involved in a "shooting incident" but that the company can not provide any identifications until the police investigation is complete.

San Francisco General Hospital, located about a mile from the facility, was put on alert and told to expect as many as six victims, including the suspect.

After the shooting, UPS said the company wasn't immediately sure of the status of the survivors who were taken to the hospital.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein issued a statement about the shooting, saying she "was heartbroken to learn that yet another senseless act of gun violence has marred our wonderful city". Five other people suffered other injures which were believed caused in the evacuation of the facility, Chaplin said. They told a news conference the incident was not terrorism-related and they recovered two firearms from the scene.

The next thing he knew, he said, "a mob of UPS drivers" was running down the street screaming "shooter, shooter".

"He's a mess right now", she said.

"The company is saddened and deeply concerned about affected employees, family members and the community we share", he said.

Besides the employees who were shot, Chaplin stated that five others were injured during the incident.

Joseph Cilia, an official with a Teamsters Union local that represents UPS workers in San Francisco, told the Associated Press that Lam filed an overtime grievance in March complaining he was working excessive overtime. "As they got on the bus, they were all ducking".

A Twitter user across the street from the building tweeted that he heard seven or eight gunshots and saw employees standing on the building's roof parking lot with their hands up.

Authorities and UPS officials say the shooter killed three co-workers and wounded two others.

People in the area are advised to shelter in place until instructed otherwise.

The United Parcel Service building where the shooting occurred is in a residential neighborhood, in the Potrero Hill area.

The warning was lifted almost three hours later after the incident was "contained" and the building was "secured", police said.
