Ankle injury could sideline Giants' Odell Beckham for opener vs. Cowboys

Odell Beckham Jr leaves game with injury

Beckham has led the team in receiving during his first three seasons, and he caught 101 passes and scored 10 touchdowns last season in helping the Giants reach the playoffs for the first time since the 2011 season.

ESPN reports, it's "not out of the question he could miss a week or two of the regular season", according to one source.

The sources said Beckham's camp explored injury insurance prior to Monday night, when a scary hit left the player with a sprained ankle in a preseason game against the Cleveland Browns. X-Rays on Marshall's shoulder were also negative, leaving him day to day as well.

Brandon Marshall catches a pass
Brandon Marshall was also injured last night

Odell Beckham Jr.'s ankle injury might be more serious than we initially thought.

Beckham took a low hit from a Browns defender which forced him to leave the game.

Don't be surprised if this year's preseason is effectively over for Beckham and Marshall in the aftermath of rough preseason game for NY receivers.

Following the Giants' 10-6 loss, Beckham's teammates chastised Boddy-Calhoun's play.

"You have to play the game to get better", McAdoo said.

CINCINNATI - Players union President Eric Winston said the National Football League can't afford another lockout when the collective bargaining agreement expires in 2021, even though he thinks it's inevitable. McAdoo did decline to state if Beckham had a high or low ankle sprain, simply stating "It's an ankle". We know they can't run the ball, but they went 11-5 a year ago without running the ball so that might not matter.
