Tough-Talking Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke Resigns

Milwaukee County Sheriff Clarke resigns

Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke is resigning, Mark Belling, host of the Mark Belling radio show announced Thursday, August 31st.

Clarke has risen to national prominence in recent years, largely due to his appearances on conservative media programs and provocative social media posts.

Clarke has been a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump and has been rumored as a nominee for secretary of the US Department of Homeland Security.

But Clarke has been fighting a series of scandals in his position as sheriff in Milwaukee County as well, including the death of a mentally ill man who was allegedly deprived of water in his cell.

In May, Clarke claimed to have been offered a job with the Department of Homeland Security, although the agency never confirmed the offer. They care about their own radical ideology of terrorism: "anarchy".

Clarke described "A war between rule of law and anarchy-seeking hate". And he reportedly said on a conservative podcast, "Let me tell you why blacks sell drugs and involve themselves in criminal behavior instead of a more socially acceptable lifestyle - because they're uneducated, they're lazy, and they're morally bankrupt".

Milwaukee Sherriff David Clarke has made a name for himself outside of catching bad guys. "That [private] contract is run out of the House of Correction, and they report to the county executive".

Seven workers at the county jail he oversees are at the center of a criminal investigation into the dehydration death past year of an inmate who prosecutors say was deprived of water as punishment. "Even if no additional inmates die at Clarke's jail this year, the facility's death rate will be roughly three times the national average, according to 2013 figures". He recently published a memoir, "Cop Under Fire".
