Teacher arrested at Indiana school

A northwest IN teacher is behind bars and facing drug charges after students say they caught her doing cocaine IN the classroom, and recorded the alleged act on video.

The student witnesses contacted school administrators, who called St. John police, who, in turn, requested assistance from Dyer police for their drug-sniffing dog. They arrested 24-year-old Samantha Cox on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and possessing drug paraphernalia.

Students took videos of the teacher alone in a classroom and posted them on social media Wednesday.

"When I actually watched the footage again and again.I just realized my English teacher just did cocaine", Rogers said.

Students quickly shared the video of their teacher online where it spread throughout the school and community.

Cox is being held at Lake County Jail, pending charges.

Authorities said students believed the video showed Cox making lines of cocaine and alerted school administrators. "Their actions showed a tremendous amount of fortitude and integrity".

School officials notified local police at 11.30am, and Cox was led out of the building in handcuffs. Dyer Police Chief David Hein said in a statement that the Dyer Police Department K-9 narcotics unit was requested to assist St. John police officers with the investigation.

"Earlier today, lake central administration was made aware of a situation regarding a teacher at Lake Central High School".

Parents were informed of the incident, and the police were quick to praise the students for reporting the alleged crime.
