FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe stepping aside

FBI deputy director steps down amid Trump criticism

Trump wasn't done. "FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe is racing the clock to retire with full benefits".

Sanders says the White House has "some concerns" over McCabe's work at the bureau.

Trump has been publicly pressuring McCabe for months and has claimed that McCabe has an anti-Trump bias. Go back and read Trump's tweets. President Trump and his allies have made McCabe a favorite target of criticism in recent months. Some exchanges suggest that the two officials had concluded months before the end of the Clinton investigation that the FBI would not charge her with a crime.

The removal may also have come by order of the Inspector General who is now investigating the Department of Justice and FBI over the handling of Hillary Clinton's email server investigation. McCabe responded that he had not voted, according to several current and former USA officials.

Trump has repeatedly tweeted that the Justice Department has insufficiently investigated Hillary Clinton during the 2016 campaign. Trump Jr. later acknowledged that the meeting was to discuss damaging information the Russian government had about Hillary Clinton.

It was McCabe's office that first contacted Michael Flynn's staff to set up an interview with the national security adviser just after Trump's inauguration. Comey's predecessor, Robert Mueller, was picked a week later to take over the FBI's investigation into Russian interference in the election.

Manafort was charged with 12 counts of money laundering and conspiracy.

McCabe replied: "OK, sir".

Trump reportedly met with McCabe at the Oval Office after the firing of FBI Director James Comey last May, and asked him whom he voted for in 2016.

David Bowdich, a senior Federal Bureau of Investigation official who led the agency's response to the San Bernadino terrorist attack, is expected to serve as the next deputy director, according to people familiar with the plans.

McCabe attended Duke University and obtained a law degree from the University of St. Louis in 1993. McCabe joined the bureau in 1996 but does not turn 50 until May 2018.
