President Kovind, PM Modi and others attend Martyrs' Day ceremony at Rajghat

To remember Mahatma Gandhi is to reflect on the meanings of home and dispossession

Vice-president M Venkaiah Naidu, defense minister Nirmala Sitharaman, army chief general Bipin Rawat, Navy chief admiral Sunil Lanba and air chief marshal B S Dhanoa were among those present.

Floral wreaths were laid before the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi led by Assam Chief Secretary V.K. Pipersenia to commemorate the ones who laid down their lives for the nation. An all-religion prayer is also held in Rajghat to commemorate the sacrifice of the martyrs. Whether it was Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe or Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu, Modi not only accompanied them to Sabarmati Ashram, but was also photographed sitting in Gandhi-style at a Charkha (spinning wheel).
