Government seeks new path for controversial oil pipeline

The pipeline, which would transport as much as 450,000 barrels of crude oil daily from North Dakota to an existing pipeline in IL, would travel under Lake Oahe, which provides the tribe's water supply. The message is being sent clearly for those who oppose the pipeline, with the hashtag #NoDPL rising to prominence on social media. Dakota Access says the project will create between 8,000-12,000 jobs and will generate $55m in annual property taxes. (more...)
